Votive Days

A way to grow in faith every day of the week



Traditionally, there is a votive offering for each day of the week that can be used as a Mass intention if there is no other intentions that day. I have taken those intentions for each day and selected prayers and other activities you can engage with each day of the week to focus on a different aspect of the faith every day of the week.


Monday

Intentions: The Holy Souls in Purgatory, The Most Holy Trinity

Prayers: Prayer to St. Joseph for the Souls in Purgatory, Glory Be

Activities: Pray for a deceased relative, Call a living relative, Visio Divina Dürer's Adoration of the Holy Trinity


Tuesday

Intention: The Holy Angels

Prayers: Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, Prayer to Your Guardian Angel

Activities: Visio Divina Raphael's Saint Michael Vanquishing Satan or Reni's The Archangel Michael defeating Satan


Wednesday

Intentions: St. Joseph, The Holy Apostles

Prayers: Litany of St. Joseph, Memorare to St. Joseph, Apostle's Creed

Activities: Exhibit St. Joseph's silence, Call or pray for your father


Thursday

Intentions: The Eucharist, The Holy Spirit, Our Lord Jesus Christ, Supreme and Eternal Priest

Prayers: Prayer of St. Augustine to the Holy Spirit, Litany of the Holy Spirit, Prayer of St. Bonaventure

Activities: Pray the Luminous Mysteries, Adore the Blessed Sacrament


Friday

Intention: The Passion of Jesus

Activities: Abstain from meat, fast from something, Visio Divina a scene from Christ's Passion


Saturday

Intention: Our Lady

Prayers: Litany of Loreto, The Memorare, The Angelus

Activities: Pray the Rosary, Call or pray for your mother


Sunday

Intention: Resurrection of Jesus

Prayers: Divine Praises

Activities: Mass, Rest from work
